Any student in grade 11 or 12 who is enrolled full time in one of the  eligible participating schools across the GTA are eligible to apply.

Why are you offering this Bursary?

The Merit Award Bursary Program provides bursaries to senior high school students as an incentive to stay in school, recognizing those who demonstrate a commitment to their school work, extra curricular activities and communities.

If I am a recipient how can I use the Bursary Award?

If you are a Merit Award recipient, you can choose how to use the money whether it is to pay for school supplies, tuition, rent or pay some bills, it is strictly up to your discretion.

How can I make my application stand out?

We are looking for applications that have been filled out electronically that emphasize your accomplishments, extra-curricular activities in school and your community, and volunteerism. We also take into consideration any personal challenges so make sure to outline this in detail. Your application is kept confidential and will be reviewed by a selection committee.

I have been awarded a bursary and why are you asking for my SIN number?

The Social Insurance Number is requested for Income Tax Purposes for students that are awarded a $750 or $2000 bursary.  The Merit Award Bursary Program will issue a T4A Slip during February of each year and will identify the bursary amount to be included in Line 130 of the students Annual Personal Income Tax Return. If I applied in grade 11, can I apply again in grade 12?
